Communicating About Sensitive Topics

Discussing sensitive topics with patients, even when patients are members of a high-risk group, is challenging for many oral health professionals.1–3 However, addressing these health education topics during patient visits promotes patients’ oral and systemic health. The objective of this literature review is to examine health conditions that may pose challenges during provider and patient interactions.
