The use of laser technology in dentistry has grown since it was first introduced in the 1960s. Lasers are used as adjunctive treatments and stand-alone procedures in dentistry. Their ability to penetrate soft tissue and remove soft tissue lesions is well established. The effectiveness of their use in periodontics and implantology, however, remains a topic of debate.1,2
