Managing Deep Caries

An intact, functional primary dentition plays a critical role in a child’s oral health, as it ensures a smooth transition to the permanent dentition. Thus, whenever possible, preserving primary teeth with deep caries until their natural exfoliation is important. While restorative or surgical management of caries in primary teeth is straightforward, treating deep caries lesions in vital teeth with possible pulpal involvement can be challenging.
