Periodontal risk assessment is a key factor in oral health education and patient care. The process involves evaluating factors that predispose patients to develop periodontal diseases. The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) states that patients should receive a comprehensive periodontal evaluation and risk factor identification at least annually.¹
