Guest Editorial: Dental Hygienists Play a Critical Role

The prevalence of periodontal diseases increases with age. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 47.2% of adults age 30 and older have some form of periodontal disease; this figure increases to more than 70% among adults age 65 or older.
