What is it?
Dental caries is a transmissible bacterial disease that leads to the destruction of tooth enamel. It is the most common chronic disease of childhood. Socio-economic status, race, parent education, diet/nutrition, fluoride exposure, and oral hygiene practices all play a role in caries risk.
