Dental caries, periodontal diseases, tooth erosion, and dentinal hypersensitivity are common oral health problems experienced by populations across the globe. Fluoride is considered the gold standard in the prevention of caries. Systemic and topical fluoride use has contributed to the declining prevalence of tooth decay. However, caries is still a widespread concern and more effective solutions should be evaluated to further reduce its prevalence.
