Caries Risk of E-Cigarette Use

Dental caries is a complex, multifactorial disease with many etiologic factors, including diet, composition of oral bacteria, level of salivary flow, immune system and host response, effectiveness of oral hygiene regimen, presence of community water fluoridation, fluoride exposure, and access to dental care.1 Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) ingredients and properties may also create an oral environment more conducive to caries.
