This certainly wasn’t what you were expecting when you started your journey in Dental Hygiene. But you will enter our profession at a time when we need you most. You are prepared with the latest knowledge anyone can have at this time. I started my career at a time when AIDs was a new and frightening virus. There was no Blood-borne Pathogens Standard, no barriers, gloves were available but optional. Many things were changing. I found coming out of school, I was armed with the most up to date knowledge at the time, and was already prepared for a new day in PPE and barrier protection. School introduced me to the highest level of infection control at that time. You too have been prepared for the highest level of infection control. You have the latest skills and training to help guide our profession forward. Trust in your schooling. You are our future leaders.
