  • Orthopedics billing services — in-house vs outsourced, what’s working for you?

In short, it’s about quantity and complexity. While smaller practices may be able to handle those claims in-house, once claim volume increases or denials begin to be received for modifiers and DME coordination, outsourcing may make more sense. Typically, these are the practices that are utilizing orthopedics billing services with regular audits and analysis of denials, rather than just submitting claims. If you’re still considering outsourcing, consider outsourcing only your denial management first, as this is a lower risk test to see how it performs. Would be interested to know how people made that decision.
