Identifying Substance Use in the Dental Setting

Dental patients with a history of substance use (both historical and current) differ significantly from those who are not users. Therefore, treating an actively drug-addicted patient differs from treating a patient who uses or abuses substances regularly but does not present with clinical signs of addiction.
