Dental caries is the most common preventable chronic disease and continues to be a significant public health problem.1,2 Fluoride is an important evidence-based therapy known to prevent dental caries.3 Oral health professionals should be knowledgeable on how each form of fluoride, especially prescription fluoride, affects caries prevention.
